CONGRATULATIONS MONACO! On Friday morning, leaders from Adams County School District 14 and volunteers from Office Depot gathered at Monaco Elementary School to make a special announcement. ODP, the parent company of Office Depot, selected Monaco as one of the recipients for its Start Proud! initiative, a program that helps schools nationwide kick off the school year with new supplies and backpacks.

Principal Ryan Green announced that the school received a $20,000 in-store credit at Office Depot to help teachers purchase classroom and student supplies.

Before the celebratory assembly, all teachers were handed three raffle tickets. The winner would receive $2,000 worth of premium supplies.

Green kept everyone in suspense as he slowly moved his hand inside the raffle box, picked the winning ticket, and read the numbers aloud.

Caitlin Delaney, a math interventionist at Monaco and the raffle winner, laughed and danced with excitement as she walked up to Green and the volunteers to have her picture taken in front of the school supplies.

"I've never won anything so this was super cool," Delaney said. "I'm super thankful to Office Depot. There are lots of resources here that I'll even be able to share with my co-workers."

Valya Broyer, the vice president of ODP Business Solutions, said their volunteers were also at Monaco's back-to-school night on Aug. 4, handing out 450 brand-new backpacks, each filled with school supplies like notebooks, crayons, pencils, and more.

"We're thrilled to be able to support these families," Broyer said. "We hope this will help the students feel more confident heading into the new school year.

"To see other people showering my students and staff with love just fills my heart," Green said. "Nothing but grateful."
